Our unusually balmy winter came to an end this week, but not before we got in a hike at Malibu Creek State Park, where they used to shoot exterior scenes for M*A*S*H back in the day. This isn’t the original signpost from the show—several years ago, there was a partial restoration of the site—but hey, as long as it looks good in photos.

In reality, of course, Burbank’s all of twenty miles thataway.

Swung by Van Eaton Galleries in Sherman Oaks, where they’re displaying some of the Disneyland memorabilia collection featured in an upcoming auction. There’s hundreds of items, so take your pick—costumes, animatronics, toys, concept art, paper goods (everything from posters to tickets), and more!

I want that Mickey costume head, but it’s obviously listed in the thousands. Maybe that vintage popcorn box instead? I can probably swipe a couple hundred bucks from somewhere...

Downtown L.A.—a handful of skyscrapers surrounded by miles of sprawling gridlock. But not a bad view when you can be above it all on the observation deck on the twenty-seventh floor of City Hall.

Bonus: the Waterlogue version.

Making my pitch at City Hall for more rabbit-friendly parks and thoroughfares!

I don’t think Garcetti’s hearing me on this, though.

Been taking advantage of the unusually pleasant weather—even in this part of SoCal, days in the 70s and 80s are kind of atypical for February—in downtown L.A. Hello, City Hall! Looking at its architecture, you wouldn’t think it was inspired by a tomb, would you?

When I see depressing creatures
With unprepossessing features
I remind them on their own behalf to think of
Celebrated heads of state or
Especially great communicators
Did they have brains or knowledge?
Don’t make me laugh!
They were popular! Please…
It’s all about popular!

So I got to bookend January with the Von Trapps—first there was the New Year’s Eve show with Pink Martini, then they doubled back for this more intimate gig in Hollywood over the weekend. Some PM songs, some originals...and yes, they did “Edelweiss.”
