2015-04-27

On this day some years ago, Rob found me living here at the Grove, which had only recently opened. We hit it off, and so began a partnership that has lasted longer and gone much further than either of us ever could’ve imagined on that first April afternoon. But today we returned to the Grove one more time because Rob, my brothers, and I are leaving Los Angeles and we thought it would be best to bring things full circle. You know us—we like symmetry when it’s an option.

This doesn’t mean the end of the blog, however. It does mean another format change, because while the Tumblr-style posts of recent months have been an interesting experiment, they don’t really play to our strengths and we may revert to the original format of fewer but longer posts. A lot is still TBD, but in any case: Stay tuned, and once we’re settled in our new circumstances, we’ll see where the road takes us from here.

Stopped by the Roxy during one day to see Michael Owen’s Love mural, an extension of his Baltimore Love Project dedicated to the memory of clubgoer (and Baltimorean) Lauren Freeman who was killed in a hit-and-run accident on the Strip in 2010. Note the rose pattern underlying the letters.

A little entertainment between courses at Marrakesh. She asked me if I wanted to join in, but rabbits just don’t have the same abdominal muscles as humans. Especially, uh, after eating an entire bastilla by myself.

Tax Day! And what better way to spend it than working through the menu at Tonga Hut? Line ’em up—one Pink Monkeybird, one Blue Hawaiian, and one Mohave Punch to start. Because it’s been that kind of year!

Dusk settles on the city.

Unfortunately, the bugs of Runyon Canyon settled on us just as quickly, so right back down the hill we went!

Ah, Easter. The one time of year the mass market shows any interest whatsoever in bunny lit.
