One more from Book Soup, after the James Fearnley signing. I was just checking out photobooks when we happened to notice the guy on the left, the one whose face we can see—is that Tom Lennon from The State, Reno 911!, and the upcoming Odd Couple remake? I believe it is!

Book signing with James Fearnley of the Pogues—his band memoir is finally out in the States in paperback.

We just had him sign it to Rob—if we asked him to add my brothers and me, it would’ve held up the line for ten minutes.

Outtake from the shots we took for the Pink Martini photo contest—well, actually, we wanted it to be the one we submitted, but then we wondered if we’d end up having to explain, “Okay, yeah, it looks like a random mass of fur and hooves, but trust us, it’s a pair of goats escaping the heat in the shade together, it’s cute.” So we ultimately went with a safer choice and are standing by that. But still: cute.

In any case, the contest is still ongoing, so if you care to throw us a vote, go here and Like our collage. Thank you!

Revisiting old friends Blue Boy and Pinkie at the Huntington. You know I’ve been coming here too much when the guards just wave me on and, once they think I’m out of earshot, I hear “¡El conejo!

Sure, it looked crazy to be going to the L.A. Zoo on an afternoon when the weather was pushing 95°, a lot of the residents were hiding in the shade, and most people were heading for the exit. But it was worth it, because for the first time in two years I finally had the shady coolness of the reptile house to myself.

Hello, Carpet Python! Hello, Mexican Beaded Lizard! Hello, Fly River Turtle! Get used to me, I ain’t leavin’ till the sun is a few hours lower. Unless Slash and Betty White kick me out themselves.

Okay, yeah, I guess the painting doesn’t work as well when it’s not a human.
